Amanda Pays was born in London, England. She is the daughter of Howard Pays, a showbiz agent, as well as Jan Miller, a former actress. An aunt, Mandy Miller, won fame as a child actor in the '50s movie Crash of Silence (1952) . At the age of eight, Pays started school at an in-between convent. It was there that she showcased her abilities as an actor. With a distinctively booming voice she was frequently being cast in the male roles in the school productions. Amanda was, on the advice of her mother, emailed a Polaroid photo to a model agent. It was not long before she was having a successful career which saw her travel the world for four years. After turning 22, she suddenly was tired of what she described as "clotheshorsing" and made the decision to enter the acting world. After intense training at London's Academy of Live and Recorded Arts her first professional appearance was made in The Cold Room (1984) The Cold Room was written and directed written by James Dearden. Pays has appeared on screen, television, and on stage throughout England as well as America since her debut in 1984. Some of her credits include: London fringe production "Fire Eaters,"" Thames Television's Minder: Minder On The Orient Express (1985), Lady Victoria (1984), Rob Lowe as Sarah as host of the pioneering television series Max Headroom (1987), Max Headroom (85), and Sister Nicole (1988) which starred Willem Dafoe and Gregory Hines.
